Skeleton Woman
By Sasha Hitchcock

‘Skeleton Woman’ is a treasure map-like journey of seeking. It illustrates a steady but often messy pilgrimage into the depths of the psychological shadow-self to reclaim what was lost.

It speaks to the incredibly lonely process of self-reflection. Sasha’s first monograph confronts fear and avoidance whilst also discussing how creativity can be used as a resource to tap into hope and understanding, inner strength and love.

“This was a period of my life where I worked intuitively to explore repressed childhood memories. Collaborating with a Jungian dream psychotherapist to reclaim hidden aspects of myself, alongside investigating my grandfather’s archive and photographs”

The body of work was born out of the unfulfilled desire to seek answers about the past. As a result, the book juxtaposes the images of two photographers, creating a unified narrative that attempts to connect the dots between the different generations, but ultimately results in a one sided conversation with the self.
